Iraq 2013
This was a compilation of lessons from NRC's urban programmes in Baghdad. It was written by Fiona Kelling and Laura Heykoop and I helped with editing.
What appeared to emerge was that any success that NRC had on their programmes was partly down to joining forces with people who knew people, changing direction when things didn't work and partly luck. As a result, the document set out key definitions that emphasised: early questions about whether an organisation will really add anything useful; modest ambition; curiosity about the place; and thoughtful questioning.
